Korda Long Chuck Funnel Web PVA System
New Korda Long Chuck Funnel Web PVA System
The Korda Funnel Web PVA systems have been a massive seller since its conception, but the new PVA range has improved for 2008! The first thing you'll notice is you now get more PVA for your money as Korda have increased it to 7 meters of PVA per system. Inside the Korda PVA presentation container you will find a dispenser tube which now has a 'lip' to help bait going into the system easier. Plus all Systems come with the Kompressa tool free of charge.
I fish at long range a lot, on my favourite syndicate water it is virtually all range work and when the winter sets in you can be leaving rods out for almost 24 hours waiting for a bite, so imagine the frustration when you wind in a tangle on the rod you most expected a bite from!
The Long Chuck funnel web solved this problem completely. By having a very slender pva stick of super attractive crumb threaded up the hooklink I could guarantee the rig had not tangled on the cast and as the 3cm long stick only cut casting down by 5 yards or so.
I have learnt from my underwater filming that a pile of crumb on a heavily baited area will be literally blown away within minutes if the fish are there and in the feeding mood, even if they are not carp. But, the same pile of crump sitting amongst a wide scattering of boilies (because that's all you can achieve at extreme range no matter how good a caster you are) or completely on its own will stay right by the hookbait until something comes across it.
At this point hopefully you will get a pick up but if you don't your rig is still in the very best condition it could have been if you have just cast a single hookbait.
So, in short using a stick can only increase your chances of a take and can in no way hinder them, providing of course you can get it to where the fish are. If you have not used any kind of stick before my best recommendation is to use 50 percent boilie crumb of the bait you are using and mix it with the same amount of moist groundbait like Dynamites Meat and Marine mixed with their High Betaine groundbait.
Being only 15mm in diameter the Long Chuck Funnel Web feels almost like its not there when you are about to cast, this makes it perfect for fishing at all ranges and onto all kinds of lakebed. In silt it will stop the hookbait getting dragged as far into the silt and help to stop the silt masking the attraction of the hookbait. On gravel it ensures the hooklink lies straight and ready to hook the carp and in weed you can make sure the hookbait doesn't get clogged with weed as the rig comes to rest on the bottom.
You can even crash the whole lot through loose weed like Canadian or cabbage weed, by deliberately tying a short hooklink of 10-15cm and then make a stick almost the same length. When you cast hold the line tight as the lead hits the surface and allow it to drop on a tight line. The stick coupled with a big lead should crash straight through the weed and end up at the sparcer root area. The stick will stop the hook from catching up and once melted will leave the hooklink (which I recommend be made of braid) hanging on or between the stems with the hookbait and hook exposed. A grubbing carp will easily be able to get the hook in its mouth because the braided hooklink is so flexible and the hook hasn't been caught up on its decent.
More slimline than the boilie funnel web so ideal for those long chucks
Supplied with 5m of anti ladder pva and kompressa stick.
